Euston station redevelopment: Regeneration or gentrification?

The redevelopment of railways stations and their surrounding neighbourhoods offers many opportunities in terms regeneration, yet there are also concerns over the potential gentrification areas displacement existing population local businesses. most prominent voice on these issues is typically from project promoter, reflecting position power decision-making process, but other voices to be understood, including varied views community. This paper uses Q methodology develop discourses associated with proposed High Speed Two Euston station neighbourhoods. 28 in-depth surveys used residents, employees, politicians, government officers academics, covering attitudes redevelopment. method analysis highlights three major discourses: ‘Community Activist’, ‘Rail Promoter’, ‘Optimistic Practitioner’. Understanding different discourses, components, important for decision-makers ensuring that investment strategies can better reflect viewpoints evident public domain. Ultimately, this help improve social consequences transport investment.
